Jarrod Best

Welcome to the
OAK GROVE HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE DEPARTMENT

Here, you will find information about the courses that are are offered in theatrical arts, Thespian Society (drama club) activities, and upcoming auditions and show dates.

Personal Information

I attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO and received my BSE in Theatre, and Speech/Communication with a minor in Psychology. This is my fourth year teaching at OGHS, and I couldn't be more excited! I grew up right down the road in Odessa, MO where I graduated in 2010. However, I am proud to call Oak Grove my new home where I live with my wife. I am excited to continue my journey with students eager to grow as people and artists, and learn about theatre.

I am a member of the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri and attend the professional development conference every fall, as well as the Web Master for the Kansas City Cappies Chapter. I am extremely excited to be sponsoring the International Thespian Society (drama club), the fall musical, spring play, and assistant coaching for the Speech and Debate team.

This year we will be producing three AMAZING shows here at OGHS! We will begin with THE DROWSY CHAPERONS as our fall musical, then THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHTTIME as our competitve one-act, and finish off the year with BOEING BOEING as the spring play. We have over 65 roles for students to play on stage with many more opportunities off stage. Keep your eyes open for more information!

JUNIOR & SENIOR DIRECTED ONE-ACTS

Juniors and seniors, if you did not receive a role you may apply to direct a one-act! Applications may be picked up from me starting tomorrow after 4th hour. Based on the interest of seniors, we will have two nights of performances. Applications are due to me no later than Friday, December 8th.

Auditions are open to all who were not cast in Boeing Boeing and will be held January 8th. Rehearsals, 6-9 once a week, will begin in February and continue until the performances which are still to be determined.

I have decided to bring this back because we have too much talent that we weren’t able to cast in the three spring shows! I want everyone to have the chance to get involved and practice their acting before the next set of auditions. So, please, use this as an opportunity to get better. We have some talented upperclassmen who are going to be able to help you grow!
